A quick thought on Family Christmas Photos..

They are so stressful! Last night Corey and I got the girls dolled up in their new Christmas dresses (handmade by a friend..thank you Connie!), put beautiful clips in their hair (also handmade by a friend..thank you Zoe). The scene was set. Picture two beautiful little girls in front of a perfectly glowing Christmas tree. All they have to do is sit sweetly in front of the tree and smile right?!
Well things just dont happen that easy around here. The meltdowns started fast and furious, boogers were running down small noses, and ornaments were getting tossed like Thanksgiving leftovers. To top it all off...I took about 30 pictures...after much jumping, singing and dancing (the only tricks I know to get my girls to smile for pictures.), and came out with not one good picture! NOT ONE!
I dont see why people do this to their kids anyway. I mean, life is not a perfectly posed photo in front of a tree. Life IS boogers, tantrums and beautiful, antsy children... at least ours is.
We are going to try one more time tonight, and if it doesnt go well... then prepare yourself for a Christmas card with beautiful girls, a fancy tree...and some boogers and tears!

Hey...
Love the post! I remember those days...we went for about six years without family pics for those reasons exactly. This year, I said to heck with the posed pics and we asked a friend's son to take them down at the Old Market.

I loved that I could tell him that the kids can't stand eachother most minutes of their day and a little about each of their personalities. I told him that we wanted casual pics and few posed- if the moment lent it self to it. They turned out great- except wishing I could drop 50 pounds. Oh well...it caputed where we are as a family and that is all that matters. Can't wait to see the Christmas card AND one way or the other- the girls are always beautiful! I am just dying to see the dresses.
Love to you all!

I SO know what you mean! I torture my kids with the Santa visit every year. The 5YO just stopped crying about it, but still won't sit on his lap. 12YO loves it and will be wherever and cooperate and everything, but 2YO still screams when she sees him. I need to get their pictures done and decided what I want to do about my cards this year. I make my cards on my computer and I would love to have a good picture. But, I've learned to treasure the ones with the tears and boogers because I'M MAKING MEMORIES, DAMMIT!

The real pictures with the pretty dresses and the tears would be AWESOME!
